Bought the wife a really clean 99 95SE v6 about 20K ago at 70 K.What a beauty. She loves the car and I am really surprised at how smooth, classy and different this car is. Got a 15K drive train warranty on it and that felt ok too. She loves this car so much that we were thinking down the road a little bit to give it to our son and invest in a new one for her. So obviously we decided that we would be anal about the upkeep and service going into the vehicle, thus getting a SAAB 90K service. Set up an appt.with a dealer 40 miles away instead of the dealer 10 miles away (bad reports and upiddy sales and service people)or the dealer 20 miles away(they are very small)because of a recomendation and the fact that they are a monstrosity of a dealership. One day after setting up the appt. the CEL went on solid so I went to Auto Zone and coded it down to P1171 and P0134 :MF Cont Fuel Air Metering and sensor CKT no activity Bank 1 Sensor 1. Looks the the O2 sensor is not reading...move the wiring around a little in back of the engine and figure that I'll just drive home .5 mile and find out if I should drive the car...which I was told by SAAB that it would be ok to.(dealer name withheld till the end of the saga).25 mile down road CEL goes off....ok....runs great as ever for next 2 days. Upon driving to the service the CEL goes on again right near an Auto Zone...ok so I code out the car again and come up with same two codes...play with the same wiring...get in drive .5 mile...light goes off...hmmm...neither time did I manually clear codes with the meter. ....light comes back on 5 miles later. Get it to the dealer 8:30 AM and tell them everything that has occured and ask them to look at a glove box light socket that has fallen into the dash cavity, degraded radio reception since window tinting, and to use syn oil...I feel in good hands. Call in at 4PM and I'm told job in progress and will be done by 6pm closing. I inquire about the card I'm holding saying they close at 7pm on Thurs. and I'm told not enough work to keep open till 7pm....ok I guess I'll just hurry and get there for 6pm. I get a call 30min later saying CEL light due to bad O2 sensor and will have to replace at$90 labor and $299 sensor and $3 bulb...I inquire about a poss. bad ground to the sensor as read on these forums and the fact that the light goes out when wiring moved...no go...$392.30 extra....ok...I tell them to go for it but I that I think that the part can be had for at least $100 less(SAABsite.com)...I'm told that it's prob. an aftermarket version... When i look at my info I see that the rear O2 sens. for this car is about $300 and guess that it is the rear one involved. I fly there.... get there at 603pm...no prob their waiting for me. Costs comes in at 90K service $558...O2 sensor$392...1 fog bulb $16...glovebox service $16 labor and I think he found a bulb I had in there and used it...ok.I ask if it was the rear O2 sensor and am told it was the front...I show them that an OES front O2 setup is considerably less at SAABsite.com and get a blank stare....I ask the mech. who worked on it about the ground to the sensor and he says it wasn't sending a signal(it wouldn't if it wasn't grounded) but I am not a service tech so what do I know. Asked for and got the old one which did not look as if anyone tried to see if it was grounded....whatever...I'm happy to get the car back and am willing to possibly get jerked around because the car means so much to my wife. She gets in the car and we merrily disappear down the road to get ready for a little 5 day weekend. We drive 40 miles back home in sep. vehicles and then packed the car. Restart the car hours later and go to the pharmacy before departing. While she was in the store I went to open the glovebox to check out the light repair and am not believing what I'm seeing....the entire glovebox door and cloth area on the passanger door is totally covered with greasy smudge marks and a real F++++++ mess....I am not even coming close to describing what I am seeing. Outside of car is washed but also full of grease. How unproffesional I think. Wife comes out of store and asks why the car sounds like a helicopter.....I get out of car and am floored by what now sounds like someone poured marbles into the engine (really ominous sound...loud)just 45 miles after they were all over this great running car....end of 5 day weekend...end of who knows what else.Called and talked to Serv Mngr 1st thing fri morn and he said that he would really be interested in seeing the car (NO S*** SHERLOCK) asks me if I have AAA and to tow it in for Mon. My wife feels especially burnt saying that for the price she should have got a pillow with a mint on it but instead got grease and marbles This is where I am at....any suggestions?????.....the support on this site is great and I thank everyone involved with it. Sorry for the long post. I've got a feeling it is gonna get longer ....stay tuned for part 2 "the confrontation"
