I'd check with a qualified car audio installer for the answer to that rear parcel shelf question. I had mne installed on the trunk floor in the left corner, right up against the side trunk wall. The footprint is VERY small. I'd say about 1 cubic foot of space taken, maybe less.

And go ahead and run it right along with the existing 6x9's. The basslink has a built in crossover, and after you have it handling the lowest frequencies, you can turn down the bass level at the SAAB head unit, thereby lowering the stress on all the stock speakers due to not requiring to handle low end. Dial in the sub bass through the basslink via the included remote level control.

The bass is fantastic, even with the pass-through ski hole door closed. If you want even more volume, just pop open the ski pass through.
