Yeah I'm not to fond of these new gadgets that lets you see the mpg on the display. It is many more customers wondering why they don't get better gas mileage and why it is not closer to the sticker values and they want me to look at their car and find the "problem".
So you spend time looking over the car without really finding anything and not being able to repair the problem which might not even be there.
And since you don't find and repair anything it is very difficult to charge the customer for your time spent.
Plus it is also not politically correct to insinuate that they might have a lead foot or that they drive the car to short trips.
I have checked the gas mileage on my Volvo 960 several times because I felt it is lousy (12.5-14 mpg) back and forth to work but since I only drive 2 miles per startup, the car runs in full choke mode almost all the way to work and then I shut it off, just to repeat the driving at night.
It is also sluggish from standstill so I have to gun it to get going and that take its toll too.
