New battery installed, problem gone.... But did I solve the problem or a symptom? The battery which died was a OEM replacement battery installed by a "not quite local" dealer. Since the discount parts store only charged me an $8 core charge, I will be taking the old one back to the dealer later this week (I will be in their area) and see if there is a better pro-rated refund from them.
The new battery has a 38 month full money back waranty, then pro-rated from month 39 to 78. I owned the previous battery for just under 40 months.
Good luck to you.
