My thoughts...
4-5 years is typical life for a battery. You're battery is living on borrowed time. I'd do two things....
1) replace the battery
2) if the car has more than 125K miles on it, consider replacing the voltage regulator. The brushes are generally good for 150K miles.
Alternatively, you can wait it out...
1) The battery will fail under very cold conditions when you need some extra cranking power. Typiclly this does not happen in front of an establishment where you can hve a battery installed.
2) The battery lite will come on telling you that your battery is not being charged. You might be able to drive 50-150 miles before the battery is run down.
Either of the above my set you up for a tow.
