I agree with buck. I had the same problem. Started out with a Code "08" which was a broken stop arm. Replaced that had the ACC worked for a while. Then it became irratic and I was getting a Code "06", which means that the current to the stepper motor is either too high or too low. Afte much farting around, I installed a used stepper motor (from Goldwings) but still ha the problem. Started to trace the wires and disconnected the plug at the back of the ACC. Found the contacts all dirty. Cleaned these with some starting fluid and a "Q" tip and no more Code "08".
Who knows how long this fix will last - but before you put out $180 for a new stepper motor check the connector on the back of the ACC.
