Apparently, early 1999 9-5s had this problem. It took five gas tank replacements (under warranty at the time) for Saab to give me a cash incentive to get me into another car. Then they just resold my old car to the next unsuspecting buyer. I have commented on this problem before. I posted under Chris M until I realized that there was another Chris M out there.

Now that your car is around six years old, you might be able to get a replacement under the emission warranty or good will, but probably not much more.

It seems that very few people had the recurring problem that I did. I would push the issue with Saab USA, telling them that you know they know about the problem, and see if they'll fix it.
