New paddles for '06, still no slap shifter.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sat, 7 Jan 2006 15:02:24 In Reply to: Re: 5-speed, Matthew Mitchell, Thu, 5 Jan 2006 20:39:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The '06 paddles are the 9-3SS thumb paddles on the face of the steering wheel and are easier to use. But what the 9-5 needs is the paddles as well as the slap shifter out of a 9-3SS, so you can just grab and go so to speak. In a 9-5 you have to carefully select "M", no just slapping it over into a pre-definded gate like a 9-3SS and that's a pain that makes taking advantage of the paddles cumbersome.
But paddles and shifters aside, a 9-5 5-speed auto in sport mated to a 250-260hp Aero engine is sweet and a stick 9-5 is just adequate as far as shift satisfaction goes, not bad, really decent, but not sweet like the auto.
