Oil threads make me crazy

Just when I start liking my car again after a Saab setback (HG, turbo, to name a few), I read yet another thread on how my car is in imminent danger of catastrophic engine failure due to my use of Saab semi-synth at 5k intervals.
I've owned it since new (2000 lpt wagon)and it has never seen a drop of amsol or Mobil 1 - just Saab semi synthetic and, last change, Mobil DriveClean 7500 semi synthetic. Took VC off, and is as clean as can be. Wire in oil pan yields no sludge. So I continue on my merry way, since I don't want to risk leaks by converting over to full synth. Or is it because I believe that everything is OK? Time will tell, and my pretty wagon may end up as a parts car when the engine self destructs because of my negligence.
Is there anyone else out there that has many miles on semi synth or lesser but has maintained a reasonable OCI schedule (5K or so...)?
