I didn't do anything else before having alignment tested, because I had no complaint about the rear. I bought the car used (private sale) and have had it for 5k miles. My only complaint was off-center steering wheel. This was noted by the indy who did a pre-purchase inspection. They did not find any damage, and told me that it just needed adjustment. So I took it in to a dealer for alignment.
My rear camber was -2 degrees left and -2.5 degrees right, vs. spec of -0.8. I also had rear toe 3X out of spec on one wheel. They used a total of ten 1 mm shims to correct the camber. They told me they do this for a lot of aeros. They also mentioned that knowledge of the problem and how to correct it is a bit spotty among dealers, which may explain the variety of experiences we've seen posted here on saabnet. Maybe Saab needs to put out a TSB.
(And yes, my steering wheel is centered now. Front aligment was otherwise OK.)
