'06 9-5 not my cup of tea

I saw my first '06 9-5 yesterday... oy! I was not impressed at all... now granted, I didn't drive it, but you know, I really don't care to. The car I like wasn't parked there before me, but rather an American-ized substitute, with slick n' flashy (somewhat mean-looking)headlights (kinda late model Camaro-ish) and a completely altered rear light array, lifted from the new Audi wagon, but somehow not as appropriately placed. Though the speedo and tach have a precision look to them, the rest of the dashboard looks like something cooked up at Nissan (my least favorite design group). And the seats! Ugh... their two-toned styling looks like it would be happier in a pimped-up Celica tooling around the hood. Gone too are some of the real SAABy quaint touches, like the hatch lights in the lift gate or the SAAB name on the front grill (which has been compressed so much it suggests that perhaps it's leaving for good soon)... small potatoes to be sure, but those are some of the percs of owning a car one still identifies as a "specialty". What a horror it is to think that it might become commonplace to confuse a SAAB for a KIA!
But what do you expect from GM, who has been in design limbo ever since Harley Earl died. I wish a wealthy eccentric Swede would buy back the company and return at least one of the great Swedish automobiles to it's rightful caretakers.
