with whatever minor changes in parts and lubricants that happen anyways.
I suspect the issue with 9-5 MTs is owner abuse (which doesn't necessarily give you comfort if you are purchasing a used one). What is especially frightening is the synchronized reverse gear and the thought that people are actually shifting into reverse "on the fly". And "speed shifting" as if it were something it isn't.
FWIW there was a major upgrade in the syncrhos in 2003 (some kind of carbon fiber composite surface) coinciding with the 9-3SS launch. According to the transmission engineer, the the material is used for Formula One brake pads, and the synchros will still be "like new" when the rest of the car is dust. When I asked if the same treatment was on the 6-speed, he said it wasn't necessary - that transmission was "designed right."
The same think could be said of the 5 speed 9000 tranny vis a vis the C900 box.
