Most business people are honest and want to do right for their customers. (Note, I said MOST not ALL. Sadly, one bad egg makes a stink that clings to eleven others.)
The most basic part of doing right is performing on your contracts and obeying pertinent law. If you do that bare minimum, you are not a crook or a cheapskate. You've done what you agreed to do.
Another part of doing right means making enough money to stay in business. Try getting service from a company that's closed up shop -- it's pretty hard!
So above and beyond what's covered by law or contract, you shouldn't expect to get everything you want.
