The main reason for idling the vehicle before shutting down is to let the turbocharger's RPM slow down and also the exhaust temperatures drop dramatically during idling for a minute or two. It's a good idea as once the engine is off, so is the oil supply to the turbocharger. But as far as coking of the oil, the turbo is water-cooled which is supposed to prevent that from happening. There are "turbo-timers" which keep the engine running a few minutes after removing the key and leaving the vehicle. But how does one wire one up to a Saab? If someone knew, I'd invest in one for mine.
