I know others blast them, but my Coopers have been fantastic for the 7,500 miles I have owned them. I bought their Lifeliner SLE Sport model in P225/50WR16 size.
They are deathly silent, have fantastic grip on dry, wet and ICEY roads. The temp dropped here one night last week to the freezing point, after raining slightly. The expresways were littered with spun-out vehicles on my way to work but I never slipped once (my dedicated winter tires had just come off the car!).
Deep water puddles at speed are not an issue and handling feels great! The UTOG ratings are 380 AA A, (IIRC). Pricing on coopers is typically great also. I suspect the technology Cooper gained by purchasing the Avon brand has made its way into a few of the Cooper branded tires too.
Unfortunately, Cooper has discontinued this tire but has added a new tire in their Zeon range which appears to be its replacement. This new tire has a slightly higher tread life rating too.
