The little black box is using circuitry that allows you to install a cell phone along with the OnStar installation. It will pass the cell phone through the speakers so you can use your audio controls on the steering wheel to control the phone volume AND OnStar volume.

If you deploy an airbag, it gives OnStar the priority of the audio system for the emergency call to be placed. It's wired into the harness behind the radio so you don't have to worry about voiding the Saab warranty because you're not modifying Saab components.

It has the harness (kinda like my '99 9-5 had) that you connect your phone to. Then you connect the Triad to the back of the radio and it takes care of all the rest because the OnStar signals are also at the back of the radio.

I paid just under $100, and tagged on shipping, etc. This thing rocks!
