Many many cranks to get car started

Over the past few days it's taken more cranks to get the ole engine fired up in the mornings. This morning it was probably 10 of 'em. This is a 2001 9-5 lpt wagon, it's on its second battery, but I'd have to check the dealer repair records to see how old it is.
It starts better when warmed up, but that could be the battery picking up some charge during the drive. So, is it the battery or the starter? I suspect I'll be picking up an Optima on the way home today.
