If the car only has 40K miles, chances are it still has the original plugs, i.e. the expensive $10+ a piece thingies. Wife has a 2003 Aero, and it went through the 3 year service and no plug was changed per Saab's maintenance schedule.
You don't even have to use the expensive plugs, you can use the standard NGK plugs, just change a bit more often as in your 9000 Aero. As the regular plugs cost $10 a set, you can afford to do that more often.
An alternative would be just pull the plugs in your car, if they look reasonably new and they are of the expensive kind, just clean, re-gap and be merry 8-).
On the other hand, if you are going to pull the plugs, just as well put in new ones.
