I think it's known that ethanol tends to give lower mileage. It certainly does in my 9000, which usually gets 28 to 30 on a longish highway trip I do every couple months (780 miles). This summer I'm seeing 26.5 calculated compared to 29-30 last summer and 27 to 28 in the winter on the same route.

My wife's '03 9-5 Linear wagon just turned in 30.4 mpg on a 370 mile highway trip at 70 with 4 people and luggage aboard.

Both of these on mid-grade gas. But when we got the 9-5 in April we were seeing 32+ mpg at 70.

Maybe some of this is summer gas, some of it ethanol. Dunno.
