Hi guys and girls -
I have a 2001 9-5 Aero which I have had for just about a year now. The car has just cracked 69K miles. When I bought it last Sept the car ran fine. I didn't experience any kind of problem with the car at all for quite some time. Along the way I installed a high flow K&N filter-charger intake system, purchased from Genuinesaab.com, and the car proceeded to run fine for months. Then sometime around May of this summer, the car started giving me some issues upon starting. I was told it was the gas (I had always used 93+, as the owners manual clearly states), and that a lesser grade would solve the problem. This actually seemed to work for a bit, with the sacrifice of worse gas mileage and acceleration/performance. That only worked for a few weeks and now it seems that no matter what I do the car has issues upon starting. It isn't all the time, but anytime it sits over night it usually gives me issues next time I drive it (regardless of outdoor temperature). The car does one of two things: 1 - It will turn over indefinitely on the first turn, and not start. It will then generally start right up on the second turn and run fine; or 2 - It will start very rough on the first turn and then 'choke' itslef out quickly and stall. It again will start right up second turn and proceed to run fine all day until it sits idle for at least a night. However, there are times where it sits for a day or two and starts up fine on the first turn. No matter what, once it starts it runs fine thereafter. One other thing I tried was a product called 'Sea Foam,' recommended to me by a fellow Saaber. This appeared to work for a week or so and then back to the same problems. I really do not want to bring this car into a dealership and get worked over here. Does anyone have any idea as to what this might be, or who I could possibly bring it to? I have a Jeep as well so dropping it off to a reliable source is not a problem. Any help or info is appreciated. I am located in central Mass. Thanks very much,
-narce
ps - I am also looking to potentially sell the vehicle but would like to be sure it is running 100% first. It is a red aero w/ BBS rims, black leather, 5-spd, all the options, very nice ride.... Thanks again for any help provided~
