Thanks very much for the input so far. I keep hearing that gas makes a huge difference with these cars. What I don't understand is why all of a sudden? It was fine for months and months after I bought it. If we stop and think here: These are very nice and fairly expensive cars brand new. You shouldn't have to go around to select gas stations just to get the car to start! I also own a 1994 Cherokee, and have never replaced the starter or alternator, and use 87 grade gas and it starts first turn every time with 137K miles!
So I think the general consensus is that the higher grade is better?? I was told to switch from 93 (owner manual recommended grade) down to 89 or 87, and that this would fix the issue (which it did not).... I have used all different kinds of gas, but usually Shell or Cumberland Farms. Again, I do not feel as though my choice of gas should make this much of a difference. And the outdoor temperature doesn't seem to play much of a factor.
As for the CPS recommendation: I am more inclined to think this would work. I assume this is not a do-it-yourself type of job though. Any idea what this would cost, or who I could go to in the Massachusetts area to get this diagnosed>?? Thanks again for all the input!
