I have two SW, one MY99 (used, three years ago) and one MY05 (new, lease).

I take care of them, and did get the GMPP warranty on the MY99. It took care of a few minor things along the way, but nothing that you wouldn't expect in an older car.

This board is my avatar-mechanic. I can pretty much anticipate the issues by reading.

The wagons can have saggy rear ends (see some posts above).

The newer one is an ARC, which is okay but I miss some of the stuff like the Weather Band radio, on long trips. Both of them have Thules on top - but the 99 had the roof rails and the 05 didn't, and I wish I had them on the 05 instead of the dorky SAAB cross bars.

I have the pull out cargo floor option in both - if you find it, it is worth it. State of Nine, a site sponsor, carries special mats that are adapted to the pull out floor, for a reasonable price. Better than my home-made version.

There is an optional back of seat mounted extendable cargo net too, which I have in the 99. Quite useful.

I love my practical wagons. I get better gas mileage with the 99, with its 170 HP motor as opposed to the 220HP 05 Arc. I can't comment on an Aero, but the Arc has a lot of ooomph when you need it.

Lots of post here on getting a MY02 model or later, and I agree, right up to 05, when we lost a few fun things. I have a friend in the market now, and there are at least three wagons available in Toronto.

Happy Hunting
