Stressful Saab Morning

Okay, I got a GPS thing for my car yesterday that plugs into the 12v outlet. I was sitting in the car (2001 9-5 V6) playing around with it this morning with the key in the ON position but without the car running. All of a sudden I hear a pop noise and the ABS, airbag, E-Brake (brake wasn't on), Warning Triangle, and TCS Off lights come on. I almost crapped myself and tried turning the key. CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK from under the hood and all the warning lights flashed on and off really fast and the car wouldn't start. All the lights inside worked fine and the radio was fine too. I frantically called my indy who was (thank God) open today. He told me the battery was probably dead. I hooked up the charger for ~20 minutes and tried turning it over again. This time it cranked but didn't start. So it's the battery. Looking back at invoices and receipts the battery is 2.5 years old so I can get a pro-rated new one at my dealer for $60. The battery wouldn't take a jump or enough charge to start the car. Meanwhile I put my lawn tractor battery in (which is a small car battery) and it started. All the lights turned off except the TCS off light. Is it okay to run the car with the small battery? I noticed when I turned the lights on the RPMs dropped a little. And how do I get rid of the TCS Off light? Am I making a trip to the dealer tomorrow?
