Based on statements in Guy's advertisements, I believe he replaces the weak factory ribbon cable to circuit board connection with a much more robust style. In addition, I believe he installs some type of thermal insulator to prevent heat from the stereo unit from affecting this new connection.
The factory connection is mechanically weak, and sensitive to deterioration due to heat & humidity. Guy's ads make it sound as if he addresses two of these three culprits with his repair method.
