how many miles per year do you drive, and I assume you do not want to use dedicated winter tires.

From your tire photos the Falkens are summer tires only. I saw no siping (indicative of a tire intended for winter conditions) and no small tread grooves either. The term All Season means nothing, it is for advertising purposes only. The DOT's M + S rating means only that the total tread area is at least 25% open space for displacing mud and snow, not that the tire is capable of producing any tractive effort when driving on those surfaces.

One possible tire choice for you is the Cooper Zeon Sport A/S. I have the predecessor of these tires as my summer tires (Cooper Lifeliner SLE Sport) but was pleasantly surprised by them when a very late Spring snow storm dumped three inches of snow overnight last year. Later that same week we got hit with a light ice storm which deposited a layer of "black ice" on all roads just in time for morning rush hour. The tires never slipped once either time!

The only down side of these tires that I have discovered since purchase in Sept of 2005 is their tread life. Mine are rated at 360 for tread life(the newer Zeons are rated at 400) but they are effectively worn out at 30,000 miles. They are inexpensive for a V or W rated tire, have AA and A rating for temp and traction, are quiet (for the first 25,000 miles), grip well in all weather conditions, don't tramline on grooved concrete, but only last 30,000 miles.

If the treadlife represents 3 years or so of driving for you, they may be a great choice. Unfortunately for me, I drive 20,000+ miles per year on my summer treads and would like to have my summer tires last a full two years.

I hope this helps.
