I spent two weeks on a business trip with a rented 2006 Hyundai Sonata with the V-6. My initial impressions of the car were good. Fit and finish seemed ok, and the engine was quite nice. I was not as happy with the transmission since it was always behind where I wanted it to be, even in the manual shift mode. The major downfall is suspension. It tended to float a lot and was easily unsettled in a rough corner or turn. Autoweek found it to be ok as a commuter, but did not like it on long trips due to "undercontrolled body motion." I was glad to turn it back in and fly home to my 2003 9-5 Aero (with a 5-speed manual transmission). A friend test drove the Azerra and felt it was well assembled but the suspension was too soft. They've proven to be good, solid and reliable cars, but not necessarily enjoyable cars for those of us who enjoy enthusiastic driving.
