Help,
I have this clunk in my front suspension which is getting worse and worse.
Symptoms:
- Loud clunk over road imprfections which seems to originate from passangers front susp. arm/wheel area.
- Clunk/rattle can occur in rapid succession or rough surfaces. Clunks like one of those loose cartoon wagons/cars.
- It's loudest over speed bumps, pull up to it, as I get over the hump, clunk! clunk! LOUD!!
- Sounds like a bag of loose wrenches.
- Car tracks straight but feels "sloppier" to me.
- I believe the clunks are more pronounced after the car warms up.
When asked to inspect, my indy said he didn't see anything - "everything is tight" - but it's getting worse and worse. I'm afraid of something working it's way loose and disconnecting while the car is in motion. The clunk is annoying and the car feels old, clunky and loose. What can I check for myself with the help of a jack, jack stands and flashlight before I bring it into a mechanic? Any help would be appreciated, I'm scared to drive the damn thing....
2003 Aero. 86K
Things worked on previously, not related to this noise:
- wheel hub (that wheel)
- manual camber adjustment (that wheel) hit a bad pothole they had to drill to bring it back to spec.
- brakes (all axles)
- front shocks have 86K on them.
