There's a school of thought that if the car is (for the sake of argument) a 2001 with 75k miles...that it's best not to switch from dinosaur oil to synthetic. Some say it messes with the integrity of seals and such.

I run dino oil in my 2000 9-5 and always will. No need for synthetic. I change the oil and filter every 4,000. I do use good mann filters...not fram or delco or whatever other crap filters are out there.

The V6's aren't prone to sludge problems like the 4's, so it's not as critical an issue for us V6'ers.
