Miss my 86 9000 5 speed as well. Much quicker than my dog slow 1999 9-5 auto. The 86 also:

- ran on the 85 octane gas sold as regular in CO. I almost must run premium in the 9-5 or it is slower.
- way easire to work on the engine and the engine didn't have the issues with sludge and ventilation the 99 has. I always used standard oil on the 86 and at 200k miles I did a compression test and all cylinders were equal and at factory specs.

Only downside was bad turbo lag in Denver on hot days.
