Thank you, LesH!

I have printed the NHSTA report and will call the dealer and perhaps Saab, if necessary. I will also let NHSTA know, if it turns out that my 2004 is not listed as one of the problem cars, and it should be part of the recall.

Someone could die or be seriously injured because they may try to pull off a stuck wheel and have the jack tip over. Stuck wheels are a true hazard. It is clear from the NHSTA report that you provided, they can lead to other problems such as weakened lug bolts and possible wheel loss. If Saab knows about this problem from previous years; and if they never changed the design; (except to add some grease between the wheel and the hub), then they have a LEGAL obligation to make sure the wheels are not stuck WHENEVER they do a major service. Just like they have an obligation to check the ball joints and the wheel bearings.

I will let the board know what I find out. Thanks for coming through for me!

And I would like to add: If I were to buy a car out of warranty, then I could understand if the dealer or the brand would not be responsible for this type of problem. However, since I purchased the car new, and took it in for every service, (and even serviced it more often then the owner's manual required); I feel that I have the right to believe that any and all known design faults and dangers with this model would be addressed during the service.

Two years ago, this same dealer neglected to check my brake pads on another Saab that I own. I paid for an inspection prior to driving to Colorado with my family. I discovered that I needed brake pads as I was going down a mountain. That particular service manager no longer works for the dealership. But I still remember the incident, and I no longer feel that I can trust them with my safety. This latest episode only reinforces my concerns.

This is my forth Saab. But I will be watching the dealer and the company very carefully from here on out.
