I tried it going about 20-25 rolling down hill, but that only made it worse (though I had a flat tire when I got up to 60 mph).
So I got brave and carefully pulled up the parking brake handle while driving at highway speed, repeated this several times. There was a vibration while the shoes clean the rotor drums. In my case it was possible to feel the one side hit first, then the other. Eventually by repeating the process and letting the material cool, they both set at the same time.
Wow, this saved me a Saturday morning.
Since the vibration was most obvious around 75 mph, I wonder if others who had posted that they could not get their wheels balanced and had a shimmy around this speed were feeling rotor drum build up?
