does the compressor kick on at all?

seems likely that you have a leak, and are just low on refrigerant. get a can of r134a with leak detector dye, charge it up. see if it gets colder, and how long it lasts. and look around for that dye, and look for oily/dirty spots too. You want to find the leak.

two weak spots in the system seem to be the sight glass on the receiver/dryer and a clamp under the car that routes the AC condenser pipe. of course check any fitting you can find and all pipe-to-hose transitions that you can see.

if you can find the leak you are in luck, and might be able to inexpensively fix it.
