SE, Linear, Arc, Aero... it's all good..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Mon, 21 May 2007 11:49:31 In Reply to: 9-5 wagon differences, zoomin, Sun, 20 May 2007 14:21:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2000 is a good place to start as the 99 model year muddles the protocol.
2000-2001, LPT fours, SE V6's and Aeros. Double check the fours for the premium package, standard in the SE's and Aeros, double check for heated seats, a stand alone option in those years. 00-01 Aeros had the glorius multi-piece 8" BBS wheel option.
2002-2005 the MCE, mid cycle enhancements, and names, Linear for the four, Arc for the V6 and Aeros with sport seats and alumium look dashes. Plastic headlight lenses instead of glass, slightly revised styling, 5 speed autos allowed even auto Aero to retain the entire 250hp. Though improved, nothing in the 2000-2001 model range needed any drastic changes and the older cars are quite satisfying and of course cheaper. The wood color inside was actually nicer for 2000-2001 and some say (me) the leather used was a little richer and more gathered.
2002 was the first year for the toys: xenon headlights, park assist and rain sensing wipers, sometimes grouped as the touring package. 2003 got paddle shifters for the auto. 2005 was the first navigation year.
2004 was the first year without a V6. No 185hp Linear, no 200hp V6 Arcs, only 220hp four cylinder Arcs, and the formerly standard premium package and vented seats of the 02-03 Arc V6 cars became stand alone options.
EXCEPTION, the Linear wagon soldiered on for 04 and 05, 185hp and no premium package available, no Linear sedan though, just a SportWagon.
04 and 05 Aeros got new lower noses and new wheels, but otherwise unchanged.
2006 brings another MCE, new styling in and out, more functional interior, 260hp fours, no lower range motors, standard 235/17's.
No reason to reject any model or any year, it's all good....
