The V6 is actually a great engine, especially used. Well compared to the 4-cyl. used anyways. You don't have to worry about sludge on the V6. The V6 is just as prone to turbo failure as the 4 cyl LPT though, watch for blue smoke at startup. The linear has a 4-cyl light pressure turbo (LPT) that puts out 185 hp, not really sure about torque. The Arc from 2002-2003 had the V6 which puts out 200hp and 228 ft-lbs of torque. You just have to watch out for the timing belt and tensioners on the V6. Follow the 60k mile services and you'll be fine. The V6 also isn't prone to head gasket issues, head bolt issues, PCV problems, and more. They're both good engines but the V6 is less of a crapshoot when you're buying used. In '04 they got rid of th V6 and put a 220 hp 4 cyl in the Arc.
