I have a 2000 V6 wagon and a 2004 Arc sedan with the 220hp 4 cyl. The 6 is smoother starting, idling, and running, and the torque is better at low speeds. The V6 always feels good, as is very easy to live with. The 4 gets better fuel economy, the performance is impressive, and the engine seems quieter(!)than the 6. At higher speeds the overall feeling of power is equal to if not slightly better than the six. That could be due to the 5 speed auto trans. as opposed to the 4 speed in the six. The 4 feels lighter in the front, so the handling is slightly better in my opinion. Both engines have been very reliable, but the timing belt job on the six is expensive. If you change your own oil, it is easier on the six. I love both cars, and can truthfully recommend either one. Good luck!
