if you buy aftermarket (or for that matter, even dealer) parts, look very carefully at the diameter of O-ring supplied for transition fitting between WP and engine block!

I did WP replacement about six months ago, and it's quite a time consuming job to disassemble what's necessary to get to pump. I purchased Hepu brand pump and assorted gaskets from site sponsor and did job in about 4-5 hours. Well, a few months elapsed and I noticed a few drops of coolant under car, quantity dependent on outside temp (hotter-more). After taking off exhaust manifold heat shield to investigate, it was fairly obvious it was coming from the transition fitting. A month or so ago, I finally had enough of the oil (HG leak from the vicinity of #8 head bolt, of course!) and coolant cascading from under my car and decided to take action.

So, I tear down motor this weekend to do head gasket and of course redo WP connecting O rings while pump is accessible. I picked up new O rings at the dealer at 5x the price of mailorder. Well, in looking at old O rings compared to new, it was clear that the thickness of O ring material was ever so smaller on the aftermarket ones, which seemed to make the difference between a watertight fitting and a leaky fitting. New ones went in much tighter than I remember the other ones were when they were new.

This is the first hiccup I've encountered in using a site sponsor for parts, and I'll continue to use them. I've just learned to be more vigilant in examining my replacement parts before installing them - esp those that are hard to get to!
