barganing chips. use these to bargain the price down:
- run ACC diags (AUTO+OFF) if any codes show up, it is a $2500 dealer fix (but you can DIY <$200 and usually < $30)
- All the SID pixels show? if not the dealer fix is $550, you can DIY for <$100
- "Service theft alarm" message on sid? dealer fix is $400 or more. you can DIY for about $20

check:
- IDM at most recent level? if it is covered under recall, make sure the recall was done.
- rear shocks
- front brakes
- water pump weeping?
- blue smoke on startup? (turbo seals)

once you buy it do this:
- fuel pump clip ($3)
- replace headbolts ($50)
- upgrade PCV to version #6
- lube steering joint in car ($5)
- replace the ACC stop arms (both sides) with new, stronger version ($20-$50) (depending if plastic or aluminum)
- BPV probably due
- carry a spare IDM
- have the engine software updated to the most recent level from Saab

consider:
- replace the small idler pulley if its never been done.
- install the long belt if it has the short belt.
- flush the coolant if its not blue.
- flush tranny, and put it on a strict drain & fill schedule.
