Thanks Anders:
It's a 2000 9-5 SE with 69K on the odo, so no warranties apply to the seat belt.
The problem with the replacement belt was that there were little plastic rivets on the belt to prevent it from reeling too far back, but the rivets were frankly too small and could easily slip past the plastic casing.
My tech wisely put some safety pins in the belt to really prevent it from reeling back in, but they fell off over the past 5 months so when I last went to put the seat down (automatically reeling the seltbelt back in), it once again wouldn't release -- making putting the rear seat back up rather difficult. I actually could raise the back once again, unlike last time where I had to cut the seatbelt to do so.
Tonight I was going to unratchet the bottom bolt in the seat crease to see if fully retracting the belt would help it unlock again. If not, I guess I'll have to just pay to have it taken out once again...
Any other ideas - anyone know how to take the seat back off?
thanks, eric
