Possible fix for rear washer (wagon)

I've had my '01 9-5 wagon for about a year and a half and the rear washer had never worked for me. When I pushed the button the wiper would go and I could hear the washer motor running, but no fluid would come out. I tried several things, such as cleaning out the nozzle holes with a pin and replacing the washer check valve inside the rear hatch. Nothing worked. I kept playing with the washer button hoping for something, and then for some reason I pushed it once with the rear hatch raised. And wouldn't you know it, I got fluid squirting out! Then I shut the hatch and got nothing. I found where the washer tube runs beneath a plastic cover inside a groove on the right-side hinge. It was evident that the tube had too much slack and was crimping with the gate closed. So I just shoved the excess back up into the door. So far it's stayed put and the washer's worked flawlessly.
Just wanted to give folks another thing to try before taking the rear gate panel off to get to the check valves and motor (the panel's kind of a pain to get on and off).
