I agree 100% - these cars are excellent and thrifty highway cruisers. I make a 1200 mile roundtrip to Portland from Sacramento about quarterly and if you know I-5 in southern Oregon, it is very hilly. I never get below 30mpg (hand calc'd) with average speed on SID of 70mph over the trip, meaning I am often at 75mph actual. Same results on other trips. 2001 LPT 5 speed w/95K.

I think the newer versions may have lost 2-3 mpg due to the more powerful engine - their mpg seems to be closer to some of the midsize V6's from Honda and Toyota with similar horsepower.
