When looking at the spare part program. For a 2002 it is no parts replaceable inside the speedo cluster like bulbs and such compared to when you look at a 2001 cluster.
It only contains two parts, cover glass and main instrument.
So yes, they changed in 2002.
But we have seen many changes through the years.
Back in the 80s and early 90s, you could replace each gauge and or electrical foil/circuit if they failed but with the NG900 that was discontinued and only the whole gauge panel could be replaced.
In many cars nowadays, you have tail and brake lights ran by LEDs (third brake light on 9-5 SW) and in those cases, you replace the whole light fixture/strip.
