The v-70 R is an interesting car, but its engineering seems a bit slapdash in some ways. The i-5 they use is, perhaps, not ultimately as good as the 2.3 in the 9-5. It has much more turbo lag, which is a bit surprising, gets less fuel economy, and is pretty coarse.

The tires the v-70 wears are too big for the car. When you turn the wheel to lock, it can scrape the wheel wells. That's bad engineering, and the car still has a gigantic turning radius.

The AWD system they use is pretty good, though.

Overall, not a bad car, but i think the 9-3 combi with AWD (new for 2008) is better all around, same power more or less, less lag, especially if you already like saabs.
