The R70 is a hot-looking car imho-- much more aggressive than the xc70 or base v70. I seriously doubt anyone would think it looks soccer-mom.
A good friend of mine recently bought one used after testing it and Aero sportwagons. He liked the softer ride of the volvo-- saabs are stiff in general by comparison, which I prefer.
Aeros sportwagons are much easier to find than R70's, though. I've only seen two (my friend's silver one, and a black one that I see in the mornings on my drive to work) here in my Atlanta neighborhood--have you actually come across more than one for sale? We see a lot more Aeros than R70's here, although a lot more volvos than saabs.
And Aero wagons tend to be cheaper if you're picking it up used. we bought our 2 9-5's from Saabway.com in Marietta (Jim may have changed the name since) --always has Aeros in stock. Looks like he has no wagons right now, but he'll find one for you if you let him know what you're looking for. Not sure, but I think my friend may have gotten his R70 from there as well.
