It seems back in 99 when we bought a 99 9-5, Saab was recommending SAAB oil or equivalent. not knowing what was equivalent I asked. SAAB said any blend of synthetic and conventional oil will be equivalent they also said that SAAB oil is directly equivalent to Castrol blend 05W30. Their foot note was that if a blend of synthetic was not used then a more frequent regimine should be used. My dealer recommended that the SAAB oil be changed at 5,000 intervals and conventional oil at 3,000 miles.
