My main issue with the jumper mod is that - unless I am reading the wiring diagram incorrectly - all of the current for the H7s goes through the stalk switch, and, at one point, a single 1.0mm wire. The way Saab wires the cars for the US, this is OK, so long as the use of the H7s is intermittent. The shutter solenoid current is relatively inconsequential.
In the European version, the H7 high beams are fed by a much heavier wire (2.5mm), which splits into the two fuses (one for each side), and feeds both the H7 and the shutter solenoid via a 1.5mm wire on each side.
Now, a 1.0mm wire should be able to handle all that current with normal wattage bulbs, but what about the stalk switch?
I have to take delivery of my 2002 Arc first (some night this week), before I can get into it and poke about. My goal will be to do something that will enable the owner to return the car to "stock" operation as easily as if it had never been modified, yet give us the proper "Main Beams" that the Swedes and others in the EU enjoy..._______________________________________
