The belt on the 6 doesn't come out of spec. The tensioners just wear out. My indy pointed something out though that I'd never thought of. The V6 uses a belt, which has to be changed every 60k miles. It takes a little work to get to it, but compared to the chain in the 4-cyl. it's very easy to service. So technically if you keep up with the belt and tensioner changes you'll have an engine for a very long time. On the 4-cyl he said it's so difficult to service the timing components that he says you're almost better off replacing the whole engine, because you get new valves, pistons, and rings along with the fresh timing chain system. So dtech, according to my indy, you might be better off just waiting for it to fail and then replacing the engine with a used one with lower miles if you want to keep the car for a while. Other than that I can't tell you much.
