So Monday the guy i was working with gives me a call before he left on vacation saying "you never got back to us". I had told him to let me know if the important 60K service was done. He left me the name of someone else to talk to while he was away.

So just now I call them and the guy I am supposed to ask for says "oh yeah you, you've been dilly-dallying around (some word like that) with this for two weeks do you want it or not?!" I said well [the guy I was working with] never got back to me saying whether the all-too-important 60K service was done on the V6. I said yes I am still interested but I am taking this seriously and doing lots of research and the timing belt tensioners/pulleys etc is a big deal. Then a service guy walked by and I heard the salesman ask the service guy what the 60k service costs... then I heard him say "Oh. Let me find out if it was done and I will get back to you". Then later he calls back says it was **not** ever done, then I said I remember reading that saab covered this under the 60k service anyway and this is CPO, then he said no this car has 88k now. He said this would cost me $700 but how bout we split it. I said thanks anyway and he said ok let's make a buyer out of you I will do it for free (maybe Saab will reimburse him anyway and he knows this???). If so then I am essentially still paying their original asking price of 12,900 since the SID will cost 4-500 to replace, CPO or not (I didn't mention that today).

Then I called a nearby independent Saab-only mechanic he steered me away from the V6, said that it is shocking the belt was never done, but as long as the engine is still running okay then it might not be a problem, just do it ASAP.

Stupid me I test drove the loaded Arc with features I love like xenons, auto dimming rear and side mirrors (I drive the NJ turnpike at night every week and that feature is a real bonus) etc.

Well there is a reason it has been sitting on the lot since last July, I fear this has not been well maintained, the dealer just did a nice job detailing it (it is gorgeous inside and out, I'll give em that).
