For many reasons, I recommend a 9-5. We have had a 900 Turbo and a 9000 CSE. Recently we bought a 1999 9-5 with the low pressure turbo (LPT). The ride and handling, with fully independent suspension, is superior to the older cars. I would recommend a 2001 to 2004 Aero because of the additional power, although the LPT is no slouch (especially in mile-high Denver, where the turbo compensates far better than a normally aspirated car). Saabs don't have great resale value like overpriced German and many Japanese cars, so you can get a lot more car for less money than you can with a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Toyota, Acura, etc. While Saabs can have a few quirky issues, overall they are solid, reliable cars.
