the dealer was willing to get me the car and only charge me a meager fee.
My car 04 9-5 arc, 5spd. 44k, dealer paid 10,500 + 500 in fees. Then we did about $1000 in doll up items, such as detail, and a few minor repairs.
Problem with dealers and the public is this dealer technically has to warranty the car according to state law...which means I COULD be a jerk and take it back if there was a problem.
When you buy from a dealer the price is set on a few things....
For instance...
Car goes for $10500
+ 500 fees
+ 150 transportation
+ 1000 repairs and dollup
Now he has $12000 into the car, this particular car retails around $13000-14000 most places which means the guy is making 16% which is far below most retail markup.
Best advice is to make friends with a dealer, or keep eyes peeled, I could have got the same car for similar price if I wanted to buy from someone else, but when you have people you know it is better to give them the business.
It is possible to sneak into the auction, but try and bid and you will go to jail for trespassing.
