See my reply below on your previous post. In my view, CPO is worth it considering the expense of repair on these cars. An '05 with 33K might even have some original warranty left, no? In any event, CPO adds another 2 years to the bumper to bumper coverage and extends it out to 100K, which is pretty good.
To answer your question though - I think these cars are generally reliable, particularly the '04 and later models, but they are not necessarily trouble free and I would wager that you'll use the warranty coverage a few times in the next two years. As always, it is a gamble, but the peace of mind is worth something too.
One other thing - try to work on that price - I just bought my '04 Arc loaded w/ touring, premium, xenons, vented seats, everything but the sport package, with 59K, for $13,900 w/ CPO through Aug 2010. Granted yours is one year newer with fewer miles, but $17,500 seems a little high. Good luck with the decision.
